As an entrepreneur, you’ll likely recognize it: entrepreneurship is akin to top-level sports. Many people who train at BOOSTClubs are entrepreneurs, and it’s no surprise because sports and entrepreneurship share many similarities. Timar from BOOSTClubs De Meern gladly shares how he approaches entrepreneurs at BOOST. Curious about his method to make entrepreneurship and sports work for you? In this blog, he shares what you can learn from a top athlete so that you can achieve business success without sacrificing your personal life.
Boost Your Energy Levels
“Without energy, you’re nowhere. Make your own physical well-being a priority, just as top athletes do. You truly need ample energy to perform well in your business and still be fit for your family, relationships, and even have the energy to exercise. Take yourself seriously and ensure you have enough energy throughout the day. Eat healthily, get enough sleep, exercise regularly, and maintain a positive mindset.
In my view, you cannot be successful if you don’t take good care of yourself. My question to you: how will you take even better care of yourself in the coming week?
The Mistake Many Entrepreneurs Make
A mistake I see many entrepreneurs make is that they work very hard to achieve their goals. The thing is, they may achieve their goal, but they forget themselves (and especially their loved ones) in the process. There’s nothing worse than being financially successful without deriving true fulfillment. Surprisingly, I encounter this situation very often in my coaching.
Set Goals the Right Way
That’s why it’s important: don’t just focus on the outcome but also on the process. When you only think about winning or revenue instead of delivering value with your product or knowledge, you might find yourself in the wrong flow, and there’s a big chance that you’re still losing. Focus on: what do I need to win? What am I going to do for this? And most importantly: WHO do I need to be to win? Instead of solely focusing on the result, I focus with clients on the WHO. Who do you need to be to get where you want to go? So, don’t just set outcome goals but also process goals. How are you going to achieve this result?”
So, entrepreneurship is indeed like top-level sports, and if we are to believe Timar, and of course, we do, you want to take yourself very seriously as an entrepreneur. Not just in your business but also in your vitality. Because if you’re not vital and not (sufficiently) taking care of yourself, it’s also difficult to take care of your business.
